Is there a rule stating that limit can only be reached with a single car? What difference does it make if you reach your limit using two cars vs. a truck that contains a very large tank? Under your logic, would it be ok if you filled two cars, but each car's tank was only half empty?

If you look at Giant's site the rules/FAQ state clearly that it should be used for one vehicle (no gas cans, second vehicles, etc.)

Actually, it was pretty obvious to me what the rule was, but when someone asked if that was really the rule I went and checked. Do you really not care about cheating in any form?

No, but I am a parent who wants to set a good example.

I agree, although I'd abide by the rules anyway even if I wasn't a parent; I have ethics. Besides, I abide by the "What if everyone broke the rules?" philosophy--discounts like this would go the way of the dinosaurs pretty quickly.

Back on topic, the highest I've gotten is $2.10/gal. So close to the max! By the way, we also get those Giant coupons for an extra 300 points in the inserts that come in our mailbox once a week. The rest of them are useless (some Baja Fresh coupons or whatever, maybe a SFW flyer), but I always grab the Giant one for the coupon.

I read them too, but only after this thread was started. A giant employee also told me about the gallon max and, while she didn't directly state that you could double dip with two cars, she didn't correct me when I mentioned it. So, I was curious about the rules so I read them.

That being said, now that I know the official rule, I will do one car per visit.

I have never paid attention to the giant gas points as it seems like they expire quickly. Is it worth it if you have fewer points? I guess I need to look into this.

We just got a boatload of Giant points because we filled a few prescriptions and our insurance deductible just reset for the calendar year, so we had to pay the full price. At least the points reduce that cost a bit. I'm mad, though, that my husband didn't use the "correct" credit card to get more of those credit card reward points!

I've maxed out at the $2.20. It is great. I drive a bigger vehicle with a 33 gallon tank so we can get the full value of our savings and still follow the one car rule. We do most of our shopping at BJ's but I do check the Giant ad each week. The key for us is the section where it has items "buy 6 items and get an additional 40cents per gallon" A few months back they had Progresso soup for a good price in that section. I bought 24 cans. If it is items that we will use and won't go bad then we stock up big time. We also use the bonus coupons that are in the fliers. If we can save $2 per gallon and I put 30 gallons in the car then I'm saving $60 at one fill up. This is the one "game" that we have found is worth it.
