Our net worth is approximately $3.3 million.

31, somewhere between 150k and 200k. I came out of law school with about -180k so happy to just be positive. Mint.com counts a car as an asset-but I'm not really sure whether I'd count it as part of my net worth.

Age 36, DH is 40.
Combined net worth is 750k. Retirement is 500k of it. I started saving for retirement at 21--the max even though I was basically eating ramen noodles and no meat.

We had no help from our parents for anything (they did not help with college or for a wedding, etc.)

I have family that is younger than me (not local) that has more than we do also with no help from family. If you pick the right profession, and are a cheapskate as a lifestyle choice, wealth at an early age is possible (I am not talking about me but a family member)

10:59 poster. I should add that we bought a house in the DC area in 2001 so some of our net worth came from the increase in housing prices that we cashed in on (about $250K).

We are 46 and 48. Our net worth is about $1.4 mil. ($800K in retirement, $300K regular savings, $100 K in college funds for 3 children, and $100K equity in home, $100K possessions)

We did not have a trust fund but were both given a good start in life with college education paid for. Our salary is $140K with one parent working and one staying at home doing a bit of side work.

Somewhere between $2.35 and $1,000,000 I would imagine.

Whether it's low depends on what HHI you want at retirement. Having half your net worth in your home is not rare, especially in DC.

OP here. Actually I was just looking at our retirement accounts and thought we did not have much. Half our net worth is from our house (down payment and appreciation), we have about 100k in cash and $200k in retirement. 200k is for both DH and I so I would consider that quite low.
