We have tiny little valves inside for draining, the Canadian way. Our house is from 1927.

Preparing for weather emergencies? You just keep someone on retainer to pay attention to things that might cause trouble and alert you when you need assistance? Good luck with that.

I don't understand this - where are the drain valves indoors? I don't think I have ever seen any. Surely if you shut off the valve to the outside pipe and then turn the outside tap on you should be OK, no?
