Most people want to marry within their race, unless they fall in love with someone outside their race.

Why do you have to get married to get into the lifestyle? You can do all that as a single woman.

I get the appeal of preppy men, but you might want to address why you have such a shallow idea of what you want in a HUSBAND. That kind of stuff doesn't matter for a life partner. Not only that, but one of the outwardly preppiest old money WASP guys i know, who is a great person, is in reality broke and so is his whole family. Their lovely house in Spring Valley and their Chevy club membership are their only assets. So what I'm saying is, don't judge a book by its cover or you're in for a rude awakening.

Are you self-loathing because of your background, and think that snagging a rich WASP guy will help your self-esteem? I'm sure you're a nice girl but I think you're barking up the wrong tree. Trust me when I say dating a born-rich guy is overrated. Sorry to generalize, but their families are usually crazy, and their sense of reality is totally warped from mom and dad blowing smoke up their asses about how great they are. You'd be better off with a middle class guy who's not a total rube and can dress himself, who is hardworking, and not insane. Just my .02. I also know a handful of black preppy guys but they're not much better.

I agree. Because OP, even though you say you are looking for a certain "lifestyle", you should still have some kind of hobby or activity that you can do with your husband and with his family to kind of "bond" over. Sailing might be another good activity to take up.

The overwhelming majority of WASPs marry other WASPs. My guess is that -regardless of your race- if you have to ask where to find another WASP, you won't be the type WASPs are looking to marry.

Actually these guys dont go for asians that much either, though moreso than blacks.

I consider myself somewhat of an expert on wasp men. I hate to say it but being AA and not having gone to private school/top tier college is going to make it tougher. Try going to charity events for young singles. Get a copy of Washington Life magazine or look at it online and find the galas and other events. I'd concentrate on the ones for the under 40 crowd. I think the Corcoran has a group for young people. There are also places like cafe Milano in Georgetown that might be a good place to hang out. Make sure to wear preppy and only slightly sexy clothes if you want to be seen as a serious girlfriend, not a one night stand.

Really? I think that maybe the parents don't want their offspring to marry this and that race, but young people will marry who they want to.
