Subject: Anybody think break is too long
I enjoy more time with my kids, but the disruption to our schedule is really hard. One of my kids has ADHD. All three have a lot of energy. I think it is harder on me than them.
Some of it has nothing to do with the length of the school break - it is family coming in from out of town and all the gift planning and we have two kids birthdays right after Christmas.
I also have the school routine down, but we have six days of camp over break (the other days I am home with them) and so it's a new pick up and drop off routine. I can't do it all like I do with their school due to hours and location, so my DH has to help which is hard because he works extremely long hours. He is out of the habit of helping with pick up and drop off.
I am tired!

Good old fashioned board games. Or teach them some of the "adult" card games like canasta or gin.
Do one per night. My older tween moans and groans when it is time to put away the video games and join the family, but five minutes into it he is having a blast.

+1000 My husband and I both have to work but have more fexible hours. Just being able to sleep in a bit and have mellow mornings have done wonders for us all.
