I'm 41 and I wouldn't want to date a 60-year-old either. My dad is only 67, and I can't imagine having a ton in common with a 60-year-old, especially since I have a young child.

OP, I think it's important that you keep your options open and don't rule out guys just on age. Some 55-year-old guy who looks and acts young might come along and really be a good fit - you never know. But I totally get where you're coming from. I would never hit on someone 20 years younger, and it's weird to me when guys do. and it makes me scared for when I'm in my 50's- will all the men my age still be trying to hit on 30-somethings? Hang in there.

Nothing is flattering about being hit on by much older men. If anything, an insecure woman is the one who would be flattered by that. There are plenty of women their ages around to date. Definitely don't want the guy who devalues women as they age, given we're all going to be old one day, if we're lucky. I'd rather a guy my age who will love me flaws and all, as we age.

I'll echo a couple of previous comments - are you certain the 60 y.o. a@@ is really "hitting" on you, or possibly just being overly gentlemanly and gracious? This is part of the arrogance to which I earlier refered. The assumption that kind-of youth confers an irresistible lure to age. Maybe to a few men, but to the ones I know, not so much. Whether or not the 60 y.o. a@@ actually did hit on her is immaterial; it's the disgust, the "how dare he" that also struck me as arrogant.

And FWIW, I'm only 60 in dog years. My balls are taught, shiny, and freshly shorn like a couple of Chicago pool hall 8 balls
