They tend to arrest people who... are caught breaking laws. They don't go around just arresting people at random. Nor do they just look the other way when it's a white person breaking the law.

Actually, I am a white person. Specifically, I am a white person who realizes that racism did not go away when Martin Luther King gave his "I have a dream" speech and also did not go away with Obama's election in 2008.

I am also a white person whose point was that the criminal justice system is much harsher to black people arrested for drug offenses than to white people arrested for drug offenses. A comparable argument related to murder -- since you have brought up murder -- would have been that the criminal justice system is much harsher to black people accused of killing white people than white people accused of killing black people. Both of these points show that racism is institutionalized in the US. Whereas your point is supposed to show what? That black people like to murder each other?

They receive harsher sentences because they kill more people........actually, they kill more AA people.

There is a correlation between low SES/high FARMS and disruptive behavior and low test scores for all of the obvious reasons that have already been discussed on this thread: poor/inconsistent parenting, chaotic households, lack of family resources to access outside assistance with behavior and/or learning disabilities, lack of proper nutrition, etc. Of course all of these factors have a very negative impact on children's behavior and school performance!

However, it's just ignorant and simple minded to link all of this to African Americans! The behavioral problems and low test scores are due to low SES and race doesn't need to be brought into it. I'm sure majority white schools in Appalachia with similarly low SES experience the same problems.

But African Americans receive harsher sentences. There is institutionalized racism.
