Nope, I'm just a feminist that doesn't believe women should be pretending to be men to get ahead. How about we work on that equality rather than making our girls deny all femininity? Besides, women are actually preferred for many professions.

This is exactly why the OP she said she wants to use it... In my opinion, since this is about honoring a family member, use it as a middle name.

This is just such a stupid argument. What if she wants to go into a profession where women are preferred? Or if, by the time she is grown up, schools/workplaces will tend to discriminate against males (which some might already do, because they want to increase their female staff)? My point is you just have no idea whether having a name that everybody takes as a male name on paper will benefit her or not. Use it if you like it, but don't think you'll be doing her career a favor.

I know a couple, so you wouldn't be alone, but why complicate your kid's life with constant explanations. I know an adult who was givent a boy's name and she hated it.

I usually don't get down on OPs when there's a name post, but I'll chime in with a thumbs down when someone asks about naming a girl a boy name. Why? Why? There are so many girl names beginning with "El". You can't choose one of those? Ella, Elle, Eloise, Eleanor, Elena, Elaine, Ellen, Elizabeth, Elise, Eliana, Elodie, Elisa, Eliza...
