I handle finances for us. Sometimes despite our incomes we can't affirmed to buy everything my husband wants. We are saving for mutually important lt goals (college fund, retirement, building a house). We just bought a new car (his). Xmas is coming. We can't buy everything he (or I) wants the day he wants it. There is x money and y desires. My husband forgets and assumes we have tons if money bc we make a lot. He forgets about the exigences kart (mortgage, childcare, etc). So if he wants something like this to come from the household budget then yes, I control that decision because he admittedly cannot handhe mobley (major debt when we married which I paid off). If he wants it badly enough he needs to buy it from his spending money (not household funds).

Layaway!

Really, though, if you are contributing and have the money available, you need to go ahead and buy it. It's time to take on some of the money management responsibilities too.

Maybe it's not about the money but the amount of time it takes away from spending time with the family. How is easy is to recover from a night of Madden and/or do you park in front of the TV all day on Sunday to watch Football all day?

Ha, I spent a week tracking online sites to get DH a PS4. Yes, I think he is a little boy on the inside, but grown men deserve their toys too. I think it is time to have a talk about financial priorities (i.e., you have the money, it isn't needed for saving up for any other expense, you haven't splurged on 50 other things this year, etc.)

I'll bet she spends a ton on things the "family needs" -- when, really the family doesn't need these things; she wants them. She sees your expenditure as cutting into stuff she wants.

You mention that at your salary, you should be able to afford one. Do you have the cash to buy one? Are you saving money each month, in general?

I make enough money to buy one; the xbox one is about one days wages. But, my expenses are high. No xbox one for me.
