All off campus by the way - the Landon campus is the only boys school to have escaped the scourge of pedophile teachers and gun toting students on campus. Not to mention alum who cheat one another and their school in business dealings conducted on campus.

You are not looking at the program correctly. There is no chance Holton is beating out NCS or Sidwell for girls. Therefore, this would help them attract girls that may chose those schools. Besides the money (if you don't need it) there is a prestige factor and you can sell it to the colleges when your DC applies. Landon has been "full" during all the supposed scandals so it is not about filling seats.

Honestly all the schools mentioned all phenomenal. We are lucky to have so many options. Great program by Landon. We will see in few months if Landon is really looking for scholars. I think they are to boost Ivy numbers. They have the athletics already. I wonder if Holton will follow suit.

You Montgomery County people make me laugh. There are plenty of Fairfax County kids who drove to Landon (e.g. Matt Ward) because of the lack of comparable lacrosse options in VA. Those kids are going more and more now to Gonzaga or a school like PVI.
To say that nobody is considering PVI and Landon is silly. For kids who find a sport like lacrosse important, they are looking at lots of options. Because there are more top lacrosse HS programs in the area, a school like Landon now has to try harder to woo them. This "scholarship" is a joke, but obviously a necessity for Landon.

I'm a Georgetown Prep or Gonzaga alum and have lived in DC my entire life. I spend my weekends playing Golf with the boys at Columbia Country Club and try to attend as many Gonzaga and Georgetown Prep football games. I could never envision myself leaving this area.
I can't stand Landon and truly look down upon a Catholic family who would even consider the idea of sending their boy to a non religious private school. My friends are set for life from my grade school and high school experience. I don't care to have much interaction with my college friends.

I am sure you are a great Christian example for your kids. Why would any rational adult detest another school? As a Gonzaga grad from the 90's I know how distant in philosophy the IAC schools were from the WCAC schools. However things have changed. Landon only has 15 to 20 new 9th graders so if 5 come from Catholic Schools that is a lot not to mention other Catholic families that came from public schools. Sure STA and Landon have more in common but some families apply to all four. Back to the original issue...the merit scholarship is a great idea. Probably not for WCAC but great idea for Landon's market share
