Yes, this is my issue too (Forestor poster). My DH is 6'5" so the RF seats always go behind the passenger seat so he can drive safely. No middle seats or driver seat. Thankfully our oldest was over 2 when the baby was born so she went forward and the baby took the RF spot.

If I'd known we would have two kids in two years I would have gotten a mini-van! Ha.

We have a Forester, but that RF convertible SUCKS in it. I probably should have a bought a different seat, we have the Diono Radian. The back seat is fine, but the front passenger seat is almost all the way to the dashboard. I can squeeze in there but it's not super comfy. My 2nd is almost 2 and I am definitely turning him before our longer car trips next summer.

Someone said the Britax seat worked well, so I'd try that.

I have two Diono radians in my 2013 Outback and it is great. I bought mine at a dealdership in Springfield.

Ditto here. When we were testing out convertible car seats, I could fit any behind me in the center seat, even large models like the Chico NextFit Zip - not so for my husband's Camry.

My older Outback (2008, so the shorter backseat) was tight with a rear-facing infant seat (it fit, but only if the front seat wasnt all the way back), but had plenty of room with a rear-facing convertible seat. We had more space with the convertible because they are more upright than the infant seats. In the newer models, there is a ton more legroom in the backseat, so it should be no problem. If you have a convertible seat, take it with you to the dealership and test it out.
