In 2005, it was 87% FARMS; now 77%, so a change but not a huge one. It was 2% white back then, now 10%.
I'm not sure exactly when Bancroft became a Deal feeder. I have the impression Bancroft graduates went to Deal before that, perhaps by lobbying the Deal principal. Or maybe the Mt. Pleasant neighborhood has always been part of the Deal boundary.
Bancroft has been feeding DEAL when I went there and I'm 49.

They also are coming because language immersion is the "new normal" in this city.

We're an upper middle class family with a kid at Bancroft. Honestly, I think we, along with most of the families like us in the neighborhood who send their kids there, find the early childhood program the big draw. It's good quality, bilingual, and diverse. When I talk to other families we all have the same question--would we stick it out all the way through
'til 5th grade? Even a friend of ours who taught at the school said she wouldn't send her kid there past 3rd. Deal is a draw, no doubt, but I don't think it's the biggest factor.
