I want a watch with some class. Give me a Patek Philippe Calatrava or a vintage Omega Seamaster on shark mesh. The richest man I ever dated wore a Timex Weekender and had his maid sew him grosgrain watchbands to match his ties.

Also, I agree that PP shouldn't make assumptions about Feds. I'm a Fed with a trust fund and a high earning spouse. The big firm attorneys I work with on a regular basis wouldn't know this unless we start talking about our neighborhoods, where our kids go to school, etc. And there are plenty of Feds whom I work with that also have high-earning private sector spouses.
Please go back to your trust fund bubble. In almost a decade of federal service I have rarely seen a Fed wear a flashy watch.
Not the PP. But out of curiosity, why do you assume that expensive=flashy? My Calatrava is one of the most unobtrusive watches you can imagine. Unless you squint to read the tiny label, you would have no idea that it is a Patek watch.
Ok not flashy, how about incredibly pompous because god nothing is worse than someone who thinks they've unlocked a superior code by purchasing something mass made, expensive, and supposedly under the radar.
And how is this different than wearing a diamond (engagement) ring? Personally, I love my Patek watch (with mechanical movement) and cannot understand why anyone would spend their money on diamond ring over a classic, elegant watch.
