so then how do women define confidence in a man? I'm curious as some women have said I'm confident because of X; other women say I'm arrogant because of the same X.
A confident person never needs to put anyone else down or belabor a point in a discussion.
. . . gives compliments to others . . . jokes good-naturedly and builds rapport by reading social cues, apologizing when they cross the line, and avoiding sensitive issues. . . adheres to traditional guidelines of chivalry.
. . . [and] embraces intimacy, reveals their true selves and exposes vulnerabilities.
So, to summarize: complimentary, jokey, holds doors open, and talks about his feelings but doesn't talk about things that might be regarded as offensive.
I'm willing to bet the loud asshole gets more blowjobs than the polite, nerdy guy who engages in all of those purportedly "confident" behaviors. The attraction women talk about often does not track well with the attraction they act upon.
