My name is Noëlle though I don't use the umlaut for informal communication. My mother was French, born and raised in Alsace. I am very used to hearing Nicole and never used to correct people. I do now.

Noelle is nms, and I would immediately assume she was a Christmas baby.

Noel is a boy’s name and will forever conjure up images of Scott Foley in my mind.

Wait, what? There are lots of women in the Army and have been for decades. It's not like recruiters are trying to sign up only boys or men.

I love Noelle! I definitely would go with that spelling. I have a friend whose name is Noel and people often assume she's male.
