Tieks are for people who are otherwise running around barefoot. As in their feet are used to functioning without additional cushioning or support of any kind, but also they know they can’t go to the grocery store barefoot.

I love my vionics sandals but have trouble with their other shoes because my heel is too narrow. If you really want something that looks like a flat you might try these—they have decent arch support. I wish the front of turf shoes was wider but I have really wide feet at the front:
