Yep, that's the one in Falls Church, across the street from Haycock Elementary School. We think it has bad karma.

There is a similar looking house about 4 houses down the street (corner of Westmoreland and Orland St.) that has fared better. It too sat on the market for a long time. When these two houses were being built, we thought that it was to be converted into halfway houses for convicts. It was way too big and awkard looking. Since then, that one sold and this one burnt down, twice!!

One thing that hasnt been mentioned is that wall between the road and the garage, as Im betting that was a result of poor planning in regard to the grading of the lot. Based on where the garage sits, I dont think they had enough room to extend the driveway out to the road with downhill grading so they stopped short with the retaining wall.

Apparently you need to burn a path to get to the third garage

Whoa! The friends committed a felony in memory of the neighbor? So, in addition to all of the other drawbacks, you will have crazy neighbors.

Not surprised at all. The old homeowners go ballistic when a new house is built, and they are not very good at hiding it. Plus, don't forget where you are, the chances of gun ownership are pretty high....take that to mean what you will, but I would not want such a neighbor....ever.

My guess is that the idea is to use the first two bays for cars and the third bay for storage, lawn equipment, bikes, etc.

And for the door with the extra deep step down, my thought is that they were planning to build a small deck there that would come out to the corner of the house, but then they either ran out of money or stopped investing in the development of the house. The completion of the deck is left to the buyer.

Lol, a slide from the sunroom door to the driveway would be the perfect touch. But really, why did they build that silly sunroom? The house already consumes 95% of the lot, & the backyard is dominated by the sunroom up on its spindly legs. Maybe Gigantor does not wish to be occupied & thus keeps setting itself on fire?

Seems like the house has a weird history but homes within walking distance to Haycock and Longfellow, not to mention so close to Metro, should sell reasonably fast. It's not like one of these big houses that backs right up to 66.
