Your message concerning a bump on pubic area was almost 2 years ago, but I'm just now seeing it because I have what sounds like the exact same thing and was wondering what you have found out or has yours gone away or what you had done. If you 're still out there, please reply.

I was thinking hernia too, though not sure if the pain would be so acute. I would seek help immediately, even at the ER, just in case there is an infection going on.

Previous poster I would go to the ER if you're in that much pain. Probably a bartholin's cyst but could also be a hematoma or even a blood clot. Sorry you are in so much pain.

Responses like this piss me off. This is a health forum, so I asked advice just like the hundreds if other people who have done the same here. See a doctor? Ok! But at 11:30 at night when I'm in bed and my doctors office is closed, I will post here.

I get annoyed with these comments too. Suppose an OP has already scheduled an appt but wants to hear from others as to what it MAY be?

Post 04/26/2015 20:37     Subject: Re:Hard bump on pubic/groin area..please help!

Hey everyone! Thank you in advance for any help/advice you can offer me.

I chose to post here, because the OP nailed the description of exactly what I've got going on!! But unfortunately the OP decided to not come back & close out his/her post of what their Dr diagnosed them with having!! SMH. (It's definitely a peeve of mine, when people start a thread/post expecting people to help them out, but then they choose not to help others who may be dealing with the samething, by deciding once they got answers (DX) from their Dr, they stiff the rest of us by not coming back on & posting/sharing the info they got! I don't get it!

Anyhow, 48hrs ago (Friday night: 04/24/15), after getting into bed, I discovered 2 Lymph Nodes in my right groin that were slightly swollen; but not painful. I told myself I'd have to keep an eye on them because Cancers & Thyroid Problems run in my family; Maternal side. Upon waking on Saturday morning (04/25/15) around 11a-12p, I went to move & physically cried out from the pain, coming from my Groin area, that halted my movements! I immediately went about checking the area with my fingers & found a golfball sized lump extending from the Right side of my Pubic Bone, NOT MY GROIN. I had to go about inspecting the area VERY TENDERLY, because any pressure that was harder than touching lightly caused God awful pain that caused me to tense up & cry out! I quickly noticed while trying to move that if my clothes put too much pressure on the lump I'd cry out, if I laid back too far my skin would pull taunt & put too much pressure on the lump & I'd cry out & if I pushed on the lump too hard that'd also cause me to cry out!! Upon inspecting the golfball sized lump, I noticed pretty quickly that even though from just looking at it, it appeared as 1 large lump, by lightly pushing on the lump I could feel 2 distinct lumps under the surface, that felt oddly similar to the 2 lymph nodes, shape wise, I'd felt the night before... Only much much more swollen & definitely much much more painful & tender.

A brief, yet detailed, description of my Lump(s) is: It's approximately 3" around x 2" sticking off of the Right side of my Pubic Bone. There are NO signs of a sore, wound, infection, boil, abscess, ingrown hair, etc... It's not hot to the touch or red & it actually feels like it's attached to the Bone on the Right side of my Pubic Bone. It's hard, firm, immobile, slight rubbery feeling, more oval in shape, than circular. I've had cysts removed in the past from the back of my calf, that the dermatologist said were ruptured & this feels NOTHING like that... The cysts I had removed caused ZERO pain, whereas with this lump if I move the wrong way, or I lean down & my clothes or other body parts put pressure on it, it causes ungodly pain that stops me in my tracks & I immediately cry out! The swellings so bad & so extended out from the lump that my right hip bone isn't as boney/defined as my left hip bone & the line between my Pubic Bone & Groin has a much more defined line on the Right side, where the line is, from the lump (& swelling) bulging out & towards my Groin/Upper Thigh... Also, I started getting a sciatic-like pain on the back of my right thigh yesterday afternoon, so I looked at a diagram online, & noticed the bladder sits right behind the Pubic Bone & the Sciatic Nerves are all in that area... So internally the lumps hitting my Sciatic Nerve causing discomfort in the back of my right leg!

Before you waste your time posting that for me to go to the Dr... I intend on going, but since this happened in Saturday morning & today's Sunday, they won't be in the office till tomorrow. I've considered going to a Minute Clinic, Care Stat or the ER, decided to give it a couple days to see what it's gonna decide to do (get bigger, get smaller, go away, pain due down, etc)... So far though, the swelling around the lumps gone down some from what it was yesterday, but the lumps have gotten bigger, Which has kept the area roughly the same size, if not bigger. The pain in the lump(s) definitely worse!

The steps I've taken so far trying to make existing a little easier & me more comfortable have been: Naproxen/Ibuprofen (600-800mg), Ice packs & Hot packs (Ice has definitely made it feel alot better over the heat!!)... I'm assuming if it was an abscess, ingrown hair or infection under the skin then the heat would make it feel alot better than the ice, which since it's not, that's what's making me feel that this is something worse than those 3 things... Possibly a Bone Cyst or a lump that's grown out of my Pubic Bone, that went unnoticed by me, till it finally blew up to what it is now! ?

All I know is that this is the worst pain I've ever felt & is making my life very hard because the slightest touch or pressure in that area stops me in my tracks & when I cry out it makes people look over at me! Which's extremely embarrassing! Plus it's making it difficult to walk because of the size of the lump(s) & swelling.

To the 1 poster who wrote how other people have given him shit for his honest opinions of what it could be, I welcome your opinion/advice on what you think this could be... Because where the others are just being quick to post "Go to the Dr", like the OP didn't already decide to do that... So, just like the OP, I'm going to the Dr's, but my options are limited right now since it's a Sunday (weekend), so if you're going to post for me to go to the Dr, don't waste your time... I'm specifically posting in hopes someone else has dealt with this before & can shed some light on it... Or if someone's had this same thing happen to them, were diagnosed & wouldn't mind sharing that diagnosis with me, I'd really appreciate your insight... However, as I said above, if you're just going to tell me to "Go to the Dr" or "Go to the ER", then don't bother, because that isn't going to help me. If someone can tell me what this could be, then I can at least Google it & get some info, that'll set my mind at ease with knowing what the hell is going on with my body & this good awful, painful lump(s)!

Thank you again for any help, ideas, possible diagnosis you can give (obviously without you actually saying "this is what you have", you know?), advice, etc! But please refrain from telling me to go to the Dr's because I don't need ANYONE telling me to do because I intend on doing that! I'll b4 calling tomorrow morning & if they can't fit me in tomorrow, I'm going to the Minute Clinic (CVS), Care Stat or the ER... I'm not gonna mess around with something like this! Though, any other help, ideas, advice will be greatly appreciated!

I have a pea-size one currently. Moves around when I feel it. I noticed it in shower. Groin muscle is a bit sore.

44 and very active. I take a crossfit-type class with lots of squats, kettle all swings. I think mine is related to a small pull. There was actually another lump that went away.

My instructor had similar ones and had an MRI and was told they were related to injury in the area. Hers resolved.

I was more concerned with hematoma or lymphoma---however doubtful. Lymphoma would cause other nodes to change and this one to enlarge.

I had a big sebaceous cyst on my upper back removed in my 20s and I have a ganglion cyst on top of my foot (had X-ray and ultrasound). It's not painful but moves around when touched--very hard to touch.

Given my cyst history I'm thinking this is one too. I'm in sweaty tights daily...even though I change, shower pretty soon after...

That should read, "dull achy ".... not pachyderm!

What did this turn out to be? I feel the same thing, and its been years, but I'm sure it's on the bone, and yes, it is deep and feels dull pachyderm.

This is not true. Some cysts do not move. Some cancers do.

This is an old thread (who resurrected it?!) but I had similar symptoms to OP and some PPs (painful cyst in groin region) and it was a bartholin cyst: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bartholin's_cyst (Warning: picture of labia on that page, so NSFW)

After seeing my GYN, who diagnosed it (and told me I would need surgery to drain it) I did some research and took sitz baths twice a day with a warm compress for about an hour at night. Resolved on its own (burst in the shower painlessly and drained, never to return) after about 2-3 weeks of daily sitz baths and compresses.

However, for anything regarding a lump, it's always best to see your doctor. But many, many benign tumors occur near skin folds and ducts (like the groin region) and it's best not to panic before getting a real diagnosis. Not to mention, something acute (the lump popped up suddenly) is much more likely to be a fluid-filled cyst than a slow-growing cancer.

You were unhappy with the prior responses given and and I explained that in the past when i have suggested possible diagnoses (Crohn's disease, Marfarns, Williams Syndrome), invariably jerks who know less than I lecture me I have no right making suggestions on the internet which is exaclty what 10:17 does. Hence, my comment "you can't win". Which is why I won't try to help anyone anymore on this site, which is a pity because I have saved some lives in my many years on this planet. So the Assholes win. I was criticizing the self-important very unhappy people on this site who skim it seeking for an opportunity to shoot someone down at every opportunity.

Cancer, while deadly, is usually not a life threatening emergency....it can wait to see your Dr. Tumors do not go from a small bump to deadly in a day. You go to the ER when there is something that needs treatment right away or things will get worse. My Cancer was diagnosed in the ER, but I went their for other reasons (passed out and broke my nose due to severe abdominal pain. Cancer can cause a symptom that is an emergency (e.g., ruptured intestines), but it is a slow acting disease.

What type of cancer? Was that the cause of your abdominal pain? Hope you're doing ok.

Abdominal pain was food related. Cancer is Kidney
