No, it's a boy's name. And it makes me want to punch anyone named Leighton in the throat. Sorry, OP.

Not to be too picky but it's actually usually pronounced with a glottal shock. So it would sound like "LATE-in" but with very little emphasis on the T.

Not crazy about it. How about Lindsay?

Lindsay is only acceptable if her middle name will be Bluth.

I only like it because I had a friend with that last name who was incredible and died way too soon.

Haha! I'm positive I'm older than you and I'm the Gossip Girl poster. I'm 57! But I always watched these fun teen shows with my daughter...so much fun!

You know how I can tell I am older than you? Because this makes me think of Laura Leighton, who played Sydney on Melrose Place.

As a first name, no.

My fiance's friend was named Leighton. He died in the war on their last deployment. We are naming our child, either gender, Leighton. We pronounce it Layton.

That is really funny.

What words is -eigh pronounced "i" (as in "find") in?

"height"

"sleight" as in "sleight of hand"

Thank you! I was having one of those "I know there's something I'm not thinking of, and I can't think of it!" moments.

I'm usually very traditional--but I like it!

I like it with 'Elizabeth' as the middle name. That's my sister's name.
