If I did accidentally answer and you told me you picked the 202, I would think you were totally bizarre and purposefully trying to get some sort of edge by having a 202. Seriously, why? You live in 703, you are being a poser, I am just sitting here thinking hmmmm?????
if you are Old money, you wouldn't be asking this question and would never go with 202 unless you lived in the District.
And 571, PP was right, my contractor and all my service people have a 571, too funny now that I think about it.

If you have a traditional number, it's the first three digits that gives away your area. For example, Arlington is a lot of 525, 527, and 528. (there are others, but those are the ones I see a lot). Those traditional ones are also the ones that sometimes the phone company gets in your face about and won't let you carry with you if you move out of that boundary even if you're within the same area code. It's really stupid, but it's happened to several friends. I've kept my number for four moves, but I never left Arlington.

Thanks for the help to all the others.
