have you ever considered it's a class and urban/suburban behavior...and that Jewish women tend to be part of the class/geographical area where this behavior is normal?

I don't do this, I don't recall my family or friends growing up doing this...I grew up in a very Jewish suburb and there definitely were super wealthy Jewish women who didn't work who were bitchy and displayed judgy behavior, but there were the same WASPY rich judgy women.

I don't think it's a Jewish thing, I think it's a class thing.

OMG.This is so silly! I am JEWISH AND PROUD. But yes I will tell you unequivocally, it is more prevalent ABSOLUTELY for Jewish women to do this than non Jews. It is not earth shattering but a fact, just ask anyone who lives in a big city. My mom is someone who does this, she thinks its funny...me, not so much. I personally find it assertive and rude. So be it.If its the worse thing that someone is..they are lucky.

I went to Georgetown University, a Catholic school. Those students looked others up and down, and there is no way they were all Jewish. I have to say thought its politically incorrect to possibly bring it up OP is not too far off base. I have experienced this myself. My sister in law being a huge culprit. She cannot help herself. Its not a pretty trait for anyone.

And I am Jewish, its other women doing nothing more than sizing up the competition!
