I think the DuPont Circle Teaism is the original. Compared to the one at 8th and D, it's tiny. No koi.
The table seating is in this garrett upstairs. Very cramped, but kind of charming. Downstairs in the main room, there are counters and stools, and if the weather's not awful there are usually people out front on the benches or the grass.
It sounds like a PITA but the food is worth it. I like it and I don't even drink tea. (I get the lassis.) The tea people seem to love it.

Check out chowhound and tom sietsema on Washington Post for some good recs.
G St food is quick and good for solo fast dining.
Sakana for sushi.
Ditto kramerbooks and afterwords.
Tabard inn for the atmosphere and history (food can be awesome but its hit or miss)
Tabard Inn and Kramerbooks are more for fun, atmosphere and people than just for the food itself.

OP, if you love ethic, you really should try Little Serow on 17th Street between P and Q. Thai food, fixed price but price is usually under $40 and is said to be some of the best Thai in the country. Dinner only, no advance reservations but the doors open at 5:30 every night and they make a list for tables that night. Go by at least 5 if you want to get in (earlier on a weekend). Do NOT waste your time at Floriana or Rosemary's Thyme or La Tomate (agree with PPs - ate there only once the year I moved to DC and have never eaten there again!). Sushi Taro is a good suggestion, as is DGS Deli and Hank's.

Thanks si much for all the suggestions.
I gave moby dicks a try today. I only have an hour fir lunch, so its hard to get more than 3/4 away and still gave time to wat! Food was fine. But, what blew my mind was when I didn't have a credit card they accepted, they told me to just come by tomarrow and pay!
