There are many single, bitter women in their 40s in this city.

No doubt, having kids ages you. But I would take that over preferring to have married/had kids and never found the right person.

Good. I'll hang onto this thought as I face infertility.

my female friends in their 40s with no kids look great. They work out daily or near daily, have time for self-care, get lots of sleep and take vacations, yoga, and have exciting sex lives and take exotic trips. etc. I am a frazzled, tired, overworked mom who drinks too much wine as the only form of 'self care' or relaxation. I haven't slept more than 7 hours in a night in 4 years, more often 6. I feel constantly stressed about whether I am doing enough at work or at home. I have had two kids, a c section and my body has gone to pot. yeah, my single friends are awesome in comparison!

I have a friend who chose to never have kids, but she is married. She definitely looks A LOT younger. So well-rested and energetic. BUT she did start to gain a little weight this year, despite being an exercise nut. I was a teeny tiny bit happy about that - such a bad friend!

My DH and I recently looked at photos from right when we first had #1 and #2 - wow, such a difference having two kids make. we looked so much younger even just 3 years ago and having one kid.

I prefer cashews.

There was a study done with twins. One had kids the other did not. The results were overwhelming that the childless twin looked much younger than the the twin with kids.

No, in fact I think they look older. At least in my circle, they tend to go out and smoke and drink more.

The singles don't seem pathetic, but you certainly do. And you haven't exactly painted a pretty picture in anyone's head, Ms. Wrinkled Wed and Pot-Bellied Bred.
