A surrogate? That's so inappropriate and creepy!

Financial services. Abusive and unpredictable bosses (husband and wife) who would try to lure us in with cash bonuses and generous gifts. They locked us in a room for an hour and a half to "think about what we can do to make the team function better". The husband screamed at me once for something very minor and I went to him later and said that not even my mother screamed at me like that and I would not tolerate it again. They also raised the idea of me being a surrogate for them during a staff meeting. Awkward. I was about 23 at the time and when I finally quit, I experienced a strange mix of pure elation and utter terror (I didn't have anything else lined up). Most of all, I remember the feeling of a sudden lightness...like a physical weight being lifted off me.

I am the "this sounds like my current situation" poster. What the next poster said sounds familiar too! They are on this kick to raise expecatations/ raise the bar for everyone which basically means crappy reviews across the board. I can't quite figure out what they are trying to accomplish aside from lowering morale. This is management consulting and my clients uniformly love me. My company, apparently not so much. I was ready to quit last week but will try to tough it out til I line up something else.

Hahahahah. Too good therefore a flight risk is the stupidest thing I can imagine someone putting in your performance review

She also had Queen Bee syndrome, tho treated both high performing men and women badly.

sexist old school- good ole boy place.. run by a bunch of men that were really not business savvy .. the only people who "succeeded" there had no chance elsewhere ..

How were you able to get such a big raise? I am in the same situation right now and struggling, but can't seem to find anything that will pay that much higher
