Has anyone had their supply dip lately? Mine is down and I think it's related to solids. Even though I am only giving solids immediately after BFing, my daughter LOVES food and is eating quite a bit (3-4 ounces or ice-cube-sized portions a day). I have to figure that is leading to her taking in less milk. Although everything that I have read says that solids should not replace BFing calories, that is just not what I am seeing. My supply is down about 3 oz per day (so not even a whole bottle's worth) - do you think I should go to extremes to get it back up or just go with it and give her less milk?

My 6 month did that too around 5.5 month when I started solids.

Mine shakes her head and flairs her arms and legs when she's happy to see me. She will also move her head left to right to left to right every 2 seconds when I visit Costco. She is much more aware of her surroundings.

We went through diaper rash before, and I switched from wipes to water cleaning her butt every time (even sensitive wipes have some kind of residue. I tried them on my own butt) and letting them air dry for a minute before putting on diapers. Cleared it in a matter of days.

No way. That doc seems to be expecting too much! Mine didn't ask such questions at our 6 month visit.

New poster here: we just got rid of an annoying diaper rash. We tried so much. We did naked butt time, then I put lotramin (in case it was yeast), hydrocortisone (for inflammation, for 2 days) twice a day. Then other times, I put petroleum jelly on first, then butt paste. The rash was still kinda there, so I used desitin every time and voila, after almost a week, it's gone. Good luck!

As far as sleep training, we ferberized because neither of us were getting good sleep. My daughter used me as a human pacifier and when I tried putting her in the cosleeper, shed wake up and we had to start over. I was cranky and she was sleep deprived. She still wakes up 2-3 times a night, but I'm ok with that. My daughter is in the 5 th percentile for weight and I don't want to cut out any calories yet.

Probably she just discovered she could do that and wants to test it out! Or so I have read. I think it can also be a way that babies react to ear infections but if she's not otherwise sick, I wouldn't worry about it.

re: diaper rash, we started having them about 6 weeks ago. The doc swears by lots of naked, diaper-free air time for her tush. Messy, but seems to help. Or try to take a couple of minutes to air dry after a diaper change, use triple paste diaper ointment. My girl's usually clears up in a couple of days.

Pretty normal, I think. I mean, they grab EVERYTHING and put it in their mouths. It's a little baby step to figuring out which end of the spoon is tasty, right? Or perhaps just trying to control whatever new thing it is I'm sticking in her mouth. Anyway, my 6-month old does it too! Maybe your friend was surprised because it looked like she was really feeding herself? That would be pretty advanced behavior, I think.

No and I've never seen any other 6 month olds do that either.

My 7 month old is crawling, cruising, and when fascinated with something (like the iPad right out of his reach or our cats) he'll stand without holding anything- up to probably 30 seconds. But, he is only verbal when he's in the bathtub or the high chair and has zero interest in clapping/waving goodbye. So my uneducated phosophy is babies develop different areas at a time! He might be behind in verbal but motor skills he's advanced! At least this is what I tell myself!

Well, when I told the doc "no", she asked again. I had other concerns - not motor-related - with DD, so I kind of let it slide past. Looking back, I think I should have asked about it. DD reaches for things, holds them, spins them around, etc. She can also 'catch' things when sitting in her Bumbo.

nope, not mine, anyhow. she's nowhere near that coordinated. she can't clap her hands or give me five yet. she just waves her arms around a lot when she's excited. and reaches when she wants something (or someone).

I just play with my 6 month old. I think he learns with everything that he does. So playing with colorful toys, putting them out of reach so he scoots to get them, being outside and talking about the things we see. I'm not sure what else there is to do.
