Unless it is in the context of "We are celebrating the conclusion of the estate negotiations/one of us just got a new job with a massive signing bonus/other financial windfall situation, so dinner is on us tonight!"

It sounds like your friend did not want to hear about you gloating. So she cut you off, rudely. I would have a lot more sympathy for your outrage if you hadn't been acting in a totally classless way in the first place.
