There's nothing like a piece of fresh, all natural, antibiotic, hormone free venison. One of my relatives hunts and gives us a few packets of cutlets every winter. It's better than anything the supermarket sells and a lot leaner than beef. Same goes for buffalo. Native Americans ate both for thousands of years and they have a tremendous amount of respect for nature. Are we going to say they've got it all wrong?
Ok selective listener...
The shit that the local supermarket or fast food establishment passes off as meat is not good for people. The vast majority of Americans don't eat super venison and even you mention that you only have a few servings per year.
Not the quoted PP, but I grew up on a cattle farm. 100% organic grass fed Missouri beef. All I ate growing up was animals that I killed and processed myself. That was primarily beef, venison, antelope, and turkey. Sometimes I got pork or lamb from the neighboring farms. I occasionally ate fish from our pond. Some of us do eat good meat. Some of us spend a fortune at Whole Foods buying organic meats.
Substituting soy as a protein is not a good idea. 90% of soy in America is a GMO. That's the base for vegetarians and vegans. So, you can pretend like you're doing something super amazing, but you're eating genetically modified shit. Congratulations. I'll stick with real whole foods.
