But her DH is also 4 years older, and sperm quality does go down with age. An SA is easy to do, and it should be done alongside OPs battery of tests.

Have you also tried unsuccessfully for 4 years on you own? To me, that's more troublesome than OP's age.

The fact that you conceived easily at 39 suggests that you have no tubal/immunological/uterine etc issues and that your husbands sperm is probably serviceable. The more important fact is that you couldn't get pregnant/have a child for the 4 years. That suggests that your egg quality declined significantly during that period. IVF does not help wih egg quality.

NP here. 43. I also get pg very easily with my own eggs. Eight miscarriages later we are moving on to donor eggs w/a surrogate. (It's not for everyone but I couldn't take another miscarriage.) We also did IVF w/PGD but all of our embryos were bad. Not a single good one. Even if you get a "good" one, there's no guarantee that you'll end up with a pregnancy and a live birth because PGD only tests one cell and may not pick up flaws in the rest of the cells. (That's why it's not generally recommended for uses other than screening for known genetic issues like Tay-Sachs.) I agree with the pps that IVF may not help that much, even with PGD, and it will be very, very costly. I would suggest trying naturally or doing a few cycles with clomid. Clomid will stimulate follicle production so that you get more chances at a healthy egg each month. Just keep in mind that you do have a much higher miscarriage risk no matter what you do (even with IVF w/PGD). Might help to seek out a fertility counselor now so you have the support from that angle.

Fertility declines dramatically after age 40, so the fact that you conceived easily at age 39 has a lot less bearing than you would think on your chances to conceive at 44.

I guess I was thinking that since it was easy for me at 39 (which certainly is not young), that my fertility must be pretty good. I will contact GW and CFA. I guess I will try dominion too? I am confused about whether or not I could do the natural IVF with someone at my age. I may be open to DE if my own eggs don't work but am not quite ready for that yet.

You seem to be overestimating the power IVF. If you failed to have a child for 4 years and had your first easily, at your age, it's very unlikely IVF will help you.

I did IVF twice at 42 and got 0 embryos. Some women may age have been much luckier.

OP asked what her chances are at 44 and the reality is that her chances with her own eggs are very low. Would it be better for posters to lie and/or mislead her into believing otherwise? If OP isn't open to DE, all she needs to do is say so.

If you have multiple embryos, the RE will discuss your options regarding how many to transfer (and when). If you adamantly only want to transfer one, most REs will respect that. Unless you have many eggs retrieved with a high fraction of embryos continuing to divide well past day 3, I suspect that your RE will strongly recommend transferring more than one (though the odds of multiples at 44 would still be fairly low). Has your DH had a semen analysis done? If you're still menstruating regularly, sperm quality is at least as much of a factor as maternal age. It's amazing, though, how little attention gets paid to male factor issues in the media etc (compared to maternal age).

If you got multiple embryos and had them tested to see if they are normal, you might choose to transfer 1 normal embryo. Otherwise the guidelines say to transfer 3-5 embryos, because the chances of any of them being normal and sticking are very slim.

No way are you going to get multiples at 44. Not to sound harsh, but you'll be lucky to get even one normal embryo.
