Since I assume you now shop around for Rx prices, do you have any tips on where you fill yours cheaply? We have a deductible similar to yours. It sucks!

We pay $640/month for a famillh of 5 with a $2500 deductible/person that goes down 25% a year when we don't reach it. The deductible comes in for labs,xrays, hospital/ER and otherwise we pay a $35 copay for office visiits. Our prescription coverage sucks though.

Look at the Kaiser family plans - probably less than 1K with fairly small co-pays. Not the best, since there's not a huge choice of great doctors, but not the worst either. Though I wouldn't recommend if your children have mental health disorders.

I pay about $200/month for two of us, 500/deductible per person and then 80% is covered, or more (90%, sometimes no deductible) if we use drs who are network providers. Copay is $15 a visit and $5 for prescriptions

To the self-employed poster who pays $800/month and $5,000 deductible, can you post which carrier or plan you use?

I'm thinking of going out on my own, but 2 of my kids have medical conditions so we'd certainly be high risk if even insurable. If we could find a plan for $1,000 or less per month and $5,000 deductible, I could definitely leave my company. We currently pay $725/month and $2,500 family deductible.

Wow-I didn't realize how great we have it. No payment and no co-pay for in-network doctors.
