Sorry to disappoint you, I'm not a haggard mess. I have a 15 minute commute each way. If I didn't work, I'd see my kids about an hour more each day (they're all in full day school), so there's no reason there to give up work. Also sorry to disappoint you but we have millions. If I didn't want to work I wouldn't.

You would outsource housekeeping and whatever else you wanted to but DH would respect you and your career enough to split chores 50/50.

I have a Master's Degree and worked hard in my field until I had children. Now I SAH. When my kids hit school age, I carved out a little business for myself that doesn't detract in any way from my children. My daughter (middle child) is now 16, and in choosing her career path, said that she wants a career that will allow her flexibility to be home when the kids are, because it means a lot to her that I put she and her brothers over a high-powered career.

And did your husband also set a great example for his sons about having a career that gives him the flexibility to be home when the kids are and choosing his children over a high-powered career?

Exactly. Also, pp, would you encourage your daughter to depend on a man for financial stability?

I'd prefer to win the lottery or discover I had some kind of wealthy unknown aunt who suddenly died and left me her fortune.

But if I had to choose, I'd choose to make my fortune myself.

You love to bring out the fear of divorce. I don't think we'll divorce but you'd be shocked at how much $$ a divorce would yield rich wives. Sure, we might have to sell some assets and properties but we'd all be just fine.
