Wow, talk about being a control freak and a helicopter parent. Kids can make their own lunches and clean up after themselves. My 20 month old knows how to take a paper towel and clean up a spill. A 6 year old should he able to do the same.

That is some backwards thinking, my dear. Teaching your child self-sufficiency is called good parenting. Six year olds need guidance with making their lunch, but once they get the hang of it -- why couldn't they make their own lunches? My kids have been doing this since about first/second grade. I check all the their lunches and add or take away things as needed. They've also learned about nutrition and balanced meals in the process.

I disagree. Lazy parenting is not teaching your children self-sufficiency because you'd rather "not have a kitchen disaster nightly." Teach your children how to take care of themselves. That is the job of parenting. Making their lunches for them because it is easier for you is truly lazy.
