If you go to your regular vet, they will not keep the dog overnight, and instead will insist you cart the dog back and forth between an overnight or weekend facility and your business-hours-only vet office. All that carting obviously isn't good for an animal in frail condition--especially in this heat. Just go to a round-the-clock care place in the first instance.

We learned this lesson the hard way, long ago. If anyone knows of more 24-hour animal hospitals that have opened in the area since the 90s, please chime in and correct me.

Southpaws in Fairfax.

Pender vet in Fairfax also. I have really like them for our dog although they are $$$$.

Alarmist much? Way to make OP feel worse about the situation.

Just trying to share information- our dog had same symptoms and I took her to the vet very much against my husbands wishes (really more to prove a point). Turns out she was bleeding internally and needed emergency splenectomy. So, sadly little things like being off from food can be a pets way of saying... Hey, I'm not feeling well. Even if the OP never reads this, I hope someone else will listen to their gut when their dog is exhibiting unusual behavior.
