I had my kids young but if I were to become pregnant at that age, I would think it was some kind of divine intervention (and no, I'm not super religious at all). I'd be somewhat terrified too. Still, a blessing!

NP. My first question too was about concerns of leaving the child motherless or at least without a mother who has the energy to devote to the child. Is that not a concern of yours at all, OP?

Solution: tubal ligation

The real question is:

Was it on planned? or accidental?

Why would she go to a doctor to conceive if she already has 3 children? regardless of what your REs brainwashed you into believing, these things do happen.

Um, calm down. I meant what OB, psycho. I've never used an RE.

You sure moved quickly from utter disbelief to seeking OB info for pregnant over 50 set.

I find it hard to believe that a typical OB wouldn't be astounded at this. OP - what does your doc say?

You all can believe what you want. I obviously don't think a 56-year-old woman went to a RE and successfully became pregnant.

So, you are going to be hosting playdates at 60?

Will you abort the baby if it has downs syndrome? Especially given that a special needs baby may need someone to care for her or him into adulthood and you likely won't be around then?

How do your other kids feel about the pregnancy? How do you and DH feel about it?

Not pp. Nice try. Who asks "if true, what doc?" for baby #4? Def sounds like you're referring RE to me too.

At 54 I wish I had the energy to have another child. Alas, that just ain't so.
