Too much sugar. My kids would get this when they had super colored ice cream from the ice cream shop. Spider man was a big offended when Baskin Robbins had it a few years ago.

Okay I can’t tell if there was dark frosting involved, but if there was, it’s that.

Pro tip: if you must have black frosting for some reason, start with chocolate frosting. The cocoa will reduce the amount of dye needed.

Thanks so much! it was so scary to see vivid grass green poop. She's our first born and 2.5 yrs old. She had solar system themed cupcakes (dark frosting cupcakes) thanks for this!


Black food coloring does this too, like those black tortilla chips

They should really ban those food dyes for kid cupcakes!

It’s something he ate. It doesn’t have to be a lot. My youngest was particularly affected by food dye - my mom had made some red velvet cupcakes for Christmas when he was 2 or so, and just that bit of dye turned his poop bright orange. The rest of us were not affected.
