Anonymous wrote:I think it should be separated out by Fairfax County, not just AAP. When people ask about schools, it often veers into a discussion of AAP centers. The other school district's threads get lost. The general students' parents in FX are surely tired of AAP discussions, but its at least within their school district so relevant.
Anonymous wrote:Ok....I totally agree, but for a different reason. I am interested, but not obsessed with AAP issues and would like to have one forum to go to for answers to my questions. I know thre are a lot of AAP haters out there due to the constant dribble on the forum, but there are also people who are genuinely asking questions about the process and need a sounding board. So an AAP forum would make both groups happy!

I agree.
It is going to be crickets over in the VA schools forum w/out AAP

So just skip over the AAP posts or join FCAG (although you won't be as anonymous there, which may be a good thing in your case).

Why the hostility? Th eposter was merely expressing her desire to be able to go beyond AAP issues on the forum. If your child is gifted and you don't want to have to read AAP stuff, then don't visit the new forum. Problem solved.
But I would want to see the gifted stuff -- discussions of CTY and so on -- so why shunt it off to AAP, which is not just about giftedness but about gaming the system.

Anonymous wrote:Sure wish there was a separate forum for AAP discussions. I'm sure AAP topics are valuable but it is hard to weed through all of the AAP threads to see what other topics are out there. Since AAP threads occupy most of the first page of the forum, it's rare that other questions receive the attention they deserve to be helpful to posters seeking information. Oh well. We can dream, can't we?

Then you must be an AAP parent. My kid is gifted, but I am not in Ffx, and I could not care less about AAP unless the forum included analyses of Justin Bieber lyrics.
Don't go away mad. But please, GO AWAY.
