2. Contact the school board members
3. Contact your county council representative.
He/She helps fund MCPS and would likely not want your child unattended to afterschool AND WANTS YOUR FUTURE VOTE.
Op here.
Yes, the school is Wyngate.
Just to give an update. The letter writing to the school board, head of the MCPS transportation department, and county council appears to have worked. There is now an alternative being offered by MCPS at least for the 2013-2014 school year.
Thanks everyone for the advice.

Gotta cut somewhere to pay for the ever increasing immigrants. Our school cut transportation 3 years ago and 4/5th grade band teacher last year. ESL teacher have increased from 1.0 to 2.5 in the last 3 years. Coincidence?
Sucks that this is true
Sucks that the same people that would complain about an increase in ESL services are probably those that are pushing for tracking and complaining about 2.0. Apparently when kids are below grade level they are contagious, but heaven forbid we provide services to help them catch up and help teachers meet their needs while still having time to teach students with more skills.
When they are illegal and shouldn't even be in the school system taking up federal tax dollars for legal kids, then yeah - heaven forbid.
Do you have evidence that they're illegal? The vast majority of ESL kids in the elementary school where I teach are here legally.

Since Plyler v. Doe, in 1982, the law of the land has been that denying children an education based on their immigration status is a violation of their right under the 14th Amendment to equal protection under the law.
I recommend that you read the decision, which you can find here:http://www.law.cornell.edu/supct/html/historics/USSC_CR_0457_0202_ZO.html
We also have a federal law that says you need to go thru the legal channels and not run across a border illegally to be a US citizen but since Arizona is the only state to have the balls to uphold it, millions coming running for their free education, meals, welfare, food stos, subsidized housing and healthcare via (ER visits) every year. They are very appreciative that our increasing taxes are going towards them while they pay nothing. Soon free amnesty. We were just charged another 100k in MoCo taxes to help start their paperwork since they are too poor to pay $10-20 to do it themselves. Coddling much? Sure. Our country in debt. Sure. Who cares? Not the government. They will just tax you more as needed while education gets worse, ratios get higher and cuts increase.

This is the aftercare's responsibility to fix.
