Good grief, not everyone can afford a hotel for three weeks! Not when there are other options. Plus, even in extended stay hotels, it is difficult to live out of a hotel, especially with kids.

I've done it before. With 4 kids. They were 6, 4, 2, and 6 weeks old. For seven weeks we were in a hotel, in the far out suburbs...and for a few of those weeks, we did not have a car. Sure it's difficult, but I think it would be more difficult to got 3 weeks without seeing my child for no good reason.

Never would I do that.
My kids are teens and two nights is the longest I have been away.
Find other arrangements.

This would also not be for me. I would move heaven and hell not to be away from my 2-year-old for that long. If you think you can handle it, go for it. I know I could not, though.

Honestly, any trauma from the separation will be on your end, not your child's. He will have a grand old time at the grandma, so take a break and don't be a wreck.
My niece was raised by my mom until age 2, at which point she went back to live with my sister. No one seemed traumatized by the experience, everyone is very close and loves each other. Kids are more resilient and adaptable than you think. You won't often get a chance of kid-free time,so I would take it and not think twice.
