Kitten heels and low heels are much more matronly than on-trend flats. Sorry.

I've gotta agree.

I'm so glad flats are fashionable right now.

(And I really don't get how the second pointy toed pair posted is so much better than my pointy toed kitten heels--the *only* appreciable difference is heel height.)

Oh and I'm 32.

You probably have nice, skinny calves. The kitten heels look terrible if you have anything else.

Those three pairs shown aren't matronly. They are grand-matronly. I can see my grandma going to church in those.

I understand your point but no self-respecting hooker would wear a round-toed, 3.5" heel...be real....those shoes are fine for work but not sexy at all

I'd never go to a client meeting or job interview in flats. They do not look right with pencil skirts or pant suits.

I see pumps like those shown above and think of my grandmother. She had to have specially-made high-heeled bedroom slippers, because she shortened her tendons with a lifetime of heels.

And kitten heels? Were we just in a time machine? Is this 1999? Then no.

Flats are modern, attractive, varied, and practical for all but the most formal occasions. Heels to the office on a Tuesday? Never in my life. I have shit to do.

This might belong in the "mean things you thought" thread. But I agree with it.

On me, they do. I need arch support, that's why I always wear mid-level heels.

Anonymous wrote:I tend to always wear flats, and I think they are super-cute, but I get why one would wear heels to work, out for nice dinner, etc. When I see women tottering around on heels while shopping, running errands, doing school pick-up, I think they look RIDICULOUS and juvenile.

There is nothing more silly than watching a grown woman trying to walk in heels. It is just sad. If you are going to wear heels, at least know how to walk in them.

Absolutely true.

Sorry, I have to disagree. I love my kitten heels. You can't tell me that these are matronly:

And if you do, well, I'd rather look matronly than like a hooker, which is the only thing I can think of when I see your 3.5" heels.

I certainly can tell you that those are matronly! They are, indeed. But matronly has its place, so it's fine. 3.5" heels aren't hooker-ish, either. It's all about context.

And I don't wear heels daily, or to the zoo or something silly. But when the occasion calls for them, I will wear them as long as I safely can.

I would say yes, those are a bit on the older side.

3.5-in is far from hooker. These two shoes are conservative, but clearly you can see the heel is not inappropriately high.

Double-platform, peep-toe 4.5-in might be a different story.
