The Beauvoir reference is completely misleading here. The only legitimate criticism of Beauvoir is that, rather than hold the teacher for the police to pick up him, Beauvoir immediately kicked him off campus and called the police. Supposedly, B waited maybe 30 minutes to call the police, though I am not sure how one would know that. B obviously did not know anything about the teacher at issue. Maybe, B's background checks should have been stronger, but my understanding is that pedophiles are very good at getting around these roadblocks. There was absolutely no cover up. B kicked him off campus, called the police and notified the parents, all immediately. Yes, we were there at the time. I, of course, have no comment on the Sidwell gossip, as I do not know the facts.

Pp, i disagree to the part about parents. Especially in light of this kind of incident, parents need to be more plugged in to what's going on at school. Hands-off only at the peril of the kids, no matter which school they go to.

Give it up, 10:43. The poster's agenda is too obvious, and a trial to get to the bottom of this means nothing to her. There is much more to this poster's agenda than meets the eye.Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Do you know what "hands on" means. It means learning through doing, rather than reading or listening. You were joking, right?
Yeah. And a “facial” is a procedure involving a variety of skin treatments, but (just guessing here) I don’t think the Sidwell mom involved in the Newmyer case will be talking about the facials she received anytime soon. Double entendres are too easy.

Obviously you are not privvy to the recent racial issues at GDS
you are nuts and paranoid. Move on!!!Anonymous wrote:The plaintiff in the Newmyer may or may not be using a PR firm, but SIDWELL could certainly use a good PR firm. In the current circumstances, the first thing a good PR team might tell SIDWELL to do is to lighten up on the emphasis on “hands on” in describing the Sidwell experience. I swear that I’m not making up these examples from the SIDWELL website:
CAMP: morning will consist of hands-on work with the youngest campers
Sidwell Summer trips: promote learning outside of the traditional classroom through hands-on experiences
6th-8th grade camp: Each of these teachers is also a parent that recognizes the importance of hands-on, active learning for the summer months
SCIENCE: Children build models, play games and gain understanding through "hands on" work
Good grief.
