Finally, if someone responds to you with an inordinate amount of emoticons, it usually means they're dismissively screwing with you because they consider time honestly engaging you to be wasted..

Someone just got served hard!

NP here. All I can say is, you both sound like sanctimonious, condescending, immature, self-satisfied bitches. You think you sound smart, but you actually sound like childish idiots.

I don't give a rat's ass about your lack of belief or your belief. Anybody, of any persuasion, who acts like this in a public forum deserves to be taken down. You're welcome.

Let me help.

1. PP says she's going to list two things, which she does, but then she adds a "Finally." Can't she count to three?
2. No hyphen in "word salad."
3. If you have a colon, you need to separate items 1 an 2 with semicolons, not with periods.
4. Diablolimonius would be an idiotic word to use in this context unless you deliberately want to sound pompous. Oh wait, you apparently do want to sound like a pompous sh!t. Unless you're unaware of your pompous sh!t persona, which is entirely possible....
5. Sanctimonious doesn't just refer to piety these days. In fact, Dictionary.com could put your picture next to the definition.

Do you really want to represent atheists with this obnoxious, yet surprisingly pedestrian, drivel? Anyone reading this would think atheists spend all day tracking down believers to attempt (unsuccessfully, given the grammatical errors enumerated above) to screw with them. You send the clear signal that atheists are nasty bitches with no life outside trolling the internet.

"an" should be spelled "and".

Furthermore, who said I was an atheist. I just happen to dislike intolerant shit-wits.

Oh, got me. A typo. Geez, that's so much worse than all the grammatical errors in you own post.

You're definitely an intolerant shit-wit yourself. Your post makes this clear on both points. I suspect you're the atheist who has been arguing with the other poster. But whatever you are ... YOU SUCK.

No emoticons necessary.

Sure, why not:

evangelical christian: "You must believe in Jesus, otherwise you're going to Hell."

evangelical atheist: "People should be allowed to believe what they want, but if you're going to try to make laws, you'd better have a damned rational reason."

Totally the same thing.

Are you kidding me? Or just lying? Atheists are always running around talking about sheeple and the flying spaghetti monster and fairies at the bottom of the garden.

I was raised atheist and I am black, which is rare. I am still an atheist. My family knows because they raised us that way. The secret would be if you had a religion. However, at work I never tell anyone for fear of being alienated or mistreated. We really do not have religious freedom in this country. I like the supposed tolerant ones who say, "I don't care what religion you have, you should just have one".

Religious humanist here. Culturally Jewish. Husband is somewhere between agnostic and atheist which is why are practicing humanists instead of anything else.

I don't hide are beliefs but I also don't engage unless is the right time and space.

Family does not understand it at all...

Um, no. Not even remotely the same thing. An evangelical atheist runs around screaming, "THERE IS NO GOD" and telling people who believe there is one that they're stupid. That's just as bad, if not worse, than telling someone they'll go to hell.

What you describe is moral relativism. That's different.

Oh, and don't roll your eyes at me. What are you, 12?

Not sure what you mean by this in this context. Also, no one "runs around screaming, 'THERE IS NO GOD'"

Are you sure the atheists are calling you stupid because you're a believer, and not for some other reason?

Again with the eye roll. So puerile.

I didn't say I am a "believer." But, yeah, if you spend much time on DCUM reading the ranting atheist phrases, there are a fair number who spend an ordinate amount of time arguing that there is no God. Which is just really obnoxious and sanctimonious behavior.

You mean like the religious person who pops into a thread that's clearly about Atheism, and screams BUT LOOK AT MEEEEE!

Religious people whining about atheists speaking up, is like a man complaining about women speaking up - they're both speaking from a place of immense privilege.

I think the point is atheists have no reason to speak up. You don't believe in God, so why even have the conversation. Because if you do, you're trying to convince or convert someone else's way of thinking and that makes you worse than the religious person who prosthelytizes because, unlike the religious person, you don't actually hold a belief. You have no call to action. And thus, you have nothing of value to say.

Honestly, this sounds like something I might have said before I came to terms with my lack of belief. Kind of an angry last cry to tighten the grip on your faith. If you're secure in your beliefs, whatever they may be, you don't say rants like this.

Anyone saying there's no such thing as an evangelical atheist must be fairly new to the Internet. Because, yes, they exist. Internet Atheists are akin to foamy mouthed evangelicals preaching fire and brimstone to anyone in earshot. They annoy the living shit out of me (an atheist). So does anyone who feels the need to shove their beliefs (or lack thereof) down my throat by belittling and threatening (hell! you're going to hell!) anyone who disagrees. No, they're not the majority. Most are nice people, like me, who just don't believe for whatever reason. I'm happy to sit in most houses of worship for whatever religious ceremony is on offer. Weddings, funerals, christenings, etc. it's not about me and I don't need to take a stand about someone else's expression of their faith. Just don't interfere with my lack of faith, please. It is that easy.

Trolling and nearly incoherent...

Sorry but if you're going to make claims in public, expect to have those claims challenged by those who disagree with you. "You don't believe in God...you don't actually hold a belief" is nonsensical. Which is it?

"And thus, you have nothing of value to say."

With logic like that, it's no wonder people are insulting your critical thinking skills...
