Hey get so many resumes and you need to do something to set yourself apart. Also, try LinkedIn to connect with other people at these organizations. It an only help.

It's hard but you can do it!

I'm on LinkedIn. Wouldn't people find it creepy if I try to connect with a person I've never even heard of?

You have to connect through another person. Email an old colleague and say "I am interested in a position at x company and noticed on Linkedin that you know someone there. Would you mind arranging an introduction?"

Then colleague sends company person an email that says "Hey x, I'd like to introduce you to Y. I think he might be an excellent candidate for a role at your company. Y has a strong background in (blah blah). Check out his profile on Linkedin. I've CCed Y and he'll follow up with you directly. If you could take a few minutes to speak with him, I think he'd really appreciate it. All the best, Me"

I have yet to find a linkedin connection that wont do this for me, unless they really dont know the person at that company.
