Yep, here we go again. But you never hear "How can women choose to be Muslim?" Just not PC
Sure you can ask that - but the comparison to Catholicism just isn't there. There's no hierarchy or institution in Islam, and a Muslim woman is MUCH more freely able to choose her own version of Islam, and feel she is right and true in it - she needs no leader to tell her what to do, no institution to tithe to, and no man to absolve her sins.
It doesn't mean that many Muslim women don't get to choose their own version of Islam, and indeed many aren't able to be free - and that's severely screwed up and unacceptable, and worthy of criticizing. But theologically and structurally speaking, Islam and Catholicism are on completely different planes.
what are you smoking???
Well, I was raised Muslim and am currently an atheist, so what do I know?
Bonus: I also have Catholic relatives on one side of the family!
Well, then that certainly must make you an expert!

You seem to be confused about something. Catholics get criticized for what they do. If you don't want to admit women as priests, fine. But it's not bigotry to hold the opinion that this choice is sexist.
Or when confronted with abuse scandals, the pope talked about how awful it was, how truly awful for this particular priest to do such horrible things......to the church. And to tarnish the name of the church and the other priest. Not one word about the victims.
