I never wear these because they hide my good parts: boobs and legs, and accentuate my yucky parts: tummy and flabby upper arms.

I am a tallish (5'6") thin person, but in maxi dresses I just look like a dumpling.

Anyone petite, with hips, who wears maxi dresses?

I'm five feet on the nose - thin, but with hips and a butt - and I feel like I would look horrid in maxis. I'd love to find out I'm wrong - these dresses are so adorable!

I do agree with most of the others here that you need to be somewhat tall and fit to pull these off. I'm 5'4" although people always think I'm taller. I have a long lean upper body so I look good in the strapless and spaghetti strap dresses. I do think the dresses with sleeves all seem matronly. Unless its a stunning designer dress and the wearer is a stunning model-type.

i love the striped ones, even the torrid one which defies the convention of "big chicks shouldn't wear maxi dresses." the direction of the stripes really work.

If you aren't skinny, you should not be wearing maxi dresses.

Thanks, 7:45. I actually don't mind if people say they don't like them, but I'd prefer they posted links of what they like or told me what they didn't like about mine and made it a conversation. I know what I like and what works for my body, so I'm not offended if it's not everyone's cup of tea.

Eh, I do wear shrugs and jackets with some sleeveless ones, but relying on a shrug with a strapless maxi makes me nervous because I'd still have to wear a bra (can't do strapless bra), and I'd be worried about a breeze blowing open the shrug and exposing my ginormous thick ugly bra straps. Sigh.

I love both of these and this boho style in general, but they're the hardest to fit into my lifestyle. I don't browse enough flea markets to rationalize having a flea-market-browsing wardrobe, heh.

We all look at clothing through our "would this look good on me" filter. Some I liked, some I didn't, because (this is important) some would not look good on me . I have seen dresses I would not touch on the rack, literally light someone up. And isn't that a lovely thing?

Why not?! To me, that looks like a tough one to pull off because it's a light color and a bit clingy, but if it looks good on you, you should be flaunting it! How would you style it? I could see going with chunky wedges (like in the pic) and a chunky low-slung brown belt OR much more delicate, like a thin gold necklace and gladiator sandals.

I do have a few other summer maxis and now that I"m expecting, I am trying to avoid all pants. Can't imagine that I can wear these at work...but if I get really uncomfortable this summer, who knows.
