This. It's also a bit wasteful to always drive an SUV when you have typically have 1, 2 or even 3 people riding

To be fair, she's not really wrong. Most domestic car manufacturers are giving up on cars completely in the US. The only exception will be their halo brand muscle cars like Camaro, Corvette, and Mustang. Foreign car manufacturers are selling all the cars in America these days (especially Japense brands) so the American companies have ceded the car market to them. They sell better because they're known for reliability and safety while American cars are known for manufacturing defects. Anecdotally, my last GM had it's transmission go at 90k miles. That's ridiculous. A foreign car I bought after that, I kept for 180k miles and it never needed transmission work.

1 mid-size SUV AND 1 small SUV. 2 kids who do sports which require lots of equipment plus one giant (130+ lbs) dog.

Us too.

We started with one suv and one sedan 11years ago. Since we buy and the cars deprecate so much we don’t sell until they die. Now we have 2 suvs, one sedan, and a weekend midlife crisis sports car. The sports car is useless and we will likely sell it at sometime soon. Whenever the sedan dies we will likely replace it with a station wagon. We are keeping the suvs forever.

One small sedan and one small minivan (Mazda5).

2 SUV

We have 3 SUVs

Two drivers and a nanny who used the third. One small, one large and one XL

1 SUV, 1 car. Three kids.

A wagon, a hatchback, a pick up truck, a mustang and a vette

One minivan, one small RAV4 with third row seat.

One small SUV (13 years old) and one Prius (10 years old).

We're about to replace the SUV with a Toyota Highlander Hybrid for the optional 3rd row. When we replace the Prius, it will be with another small, fuel-efficient car.
