To be fair, she's not really wrong. Most domestic car manufacturers are giving up on cars completely in the US. The only exception will be their halo brand muscle cars like Camaro, Corvette, and Mustang. Foreign car manufacturers are selling all the cars in America these days (especially Japense brands) so the American companies have ceded the car market to them. They sell better because they're known for reliability and safety while American cars are known for manufacturing defects. Anecdotally, my last GM had it's transmission go at 90k miles. That's ridiculous. A foreign car I bought after that, I kept for 180k miles and it never needed transmission work.
