DD is intrigued regarding USC. What can you say about it?
it's in a ghetto. Housing is gonna be an issue.
True. It's in the inner city.

New Poster here. We visited U of SC and although the school seemed nice, our DC didn't want to apply because the school is located right in the city.
Clemson has a beautiful campus, a great football team that makes the town the largest city in SC on game day, and a Greek system that isn't the entire social structure.

Oh no. I haven't heard anything negative about its location (well, anything really).
Regarding the UMichigan and UT Austin recs, I think these are way too competitive to get into.
Regarding, JMU, my kids have said "no thank you" and that's fine with us because we think the kids can be accepted to better out of state schools.
But one must wonder if this is more anti JMU flame bait because if UT is too competitive, your kids would likely be rejected by JMU as well no offense.
Maybe I read the chart upside down. But from what I read, my kids would definitely be accepted to JMU if we didn't have the zip code we do (and they'd have a decent shot at any rate) and UT Austin looked very competitive. But I'll look at UT again. I hope I'm wrong. Thanks.

Too cold.
Similar to Boston. Alabama and Mississippi are warmer if that is your most important factor in choosing a college.
I wouldn't say most important but it seems climate is a very important factor. And it's a teenager's list of criteria. DD also eliminated schools with purple or orange school colors. So, there's that.
For us it is the opposite, we love cold climates. (The best schools tend to be in colder climates too.)

What are their school colors? Haha. But I don't love schools that are so hard to get to. I've just heard there's no great way to get to Miami except by driving. But I haven't looked into it.
