OP here. Thanks, everyone. I also appreciate the suggestions to look into Bullis and St Andrews. We are in Alexandria so they are a bit far for us, but we would consider moving if the "perfect fit" school was not super convenient for us (We are outgrowing our house anyway.)

Thanks, this is helpful. My DS, who has ADHD, is currently at the McLean School in the middle school and we are considering Bullis for HS.

What's lovely about Bullis is their style of teaching. Classes are rigorous enough BUT here's where it gets sweet. They are learning, not regurgitating. Tests are allowed to be retaken once, as they look at testing as a way of assessing what is understood and what isn't. Some are take-home. My DC says that it makes learning much more fun because the concern and pressure over test grades goes away;kids can focus on the material. For a kid with ADHD, this is a better learning style, as the pressure to perform is much lessened.

My daughter attends Bullis. Doesn't use the center but the ed consultant who helps my ADHD at another school said the center is quite nice.
