I am a huge fan of Kerri Westhauser and decided I must post the exact opposite of the PP. She made every effort to squeeze me in, called me when she was on vacation and email me when there were cancellations. She is very busy because she is highly knowledgeable and skilled. She had me on herbs and acupuncture twice a month. She worked with my RE and he spoke highly of her as well.
She is by far the best.

I've been to 4 different ones in the area. I was not a fan of Kerri Westhauser. Although she was nice, it was incredibly difficult to schedule sessions with her. Since sessions with her are cycle day dependant and my cycle was not always predictable, I wasn't able to call more than a few days ahead with my day 1 and she was often booked up or not available. It became super stressful to book appointments with her.

I saw Dr. Sen Huang at GW who was nice and very convenient, but we were not successful with him after 8 months and 2 ivfs. I just felt like it wasn't clicking and needed a break.

I switched to Dr. Eugene Zhang. I was not a fan. I went to see him right after a transfer for a consult. He basically told me I was pregnant on our first meeting after taking my pulse. He said it was twin boys and everything indicated I was pregnant and would carry to term. Mind you, this was only a few days after the transfer so no beta test would have been picked up. The beta test was eventually negative and I was a basketcase for about a week. I went to him for a few more months but just didnt' feel comfortable there or trust what he was telling me.

I'm now seeing Dr. Yi Ping Hu. She's pretty no nonsense. I still haven't gotten my BFP yet but so far, I like that the acupucture is not stressful and there are no false promises or predictions being made.

I think you just have to find the person that works for you and that you click with. Don't be afraid to try out a couple of different people.

I had just lost my father and was dealing with sadness and anxiety when I first started to see Dr.Fan, I am 31 years old and felt the grief of losing my father, stress and my age would make it difficult for me and my husband to conceive. Dr. Sen Huang near GW/foggy bottom metro is an amazing practicioner. I highly recommend him.

I saw Njemile Carol Jones a couple of times and found her to be quite helpful and nice. I called to ask her to help me induce labor (I was trying to avoid a hospital induction) and had to cancel when I went into labor naturally. She sent me a nice email and congratulated me, no complaints about the cancellation.

I have recommended her to others and was surprised to see the negative posts about her.

I also went to kelly welch and his wife kate yonkers and i did ivf at gw with molina dayal. it's a great combination! I tried ivf 3 times and the 3rd time i got pregnant and the 3rd cycle is when i began acupuncture. so of course i believe it really helped. One thing i noticed is i felt swollen and uncomfortable because of the drugs when i would go in for my acupuncture appointment, but when i left i felt much more comfortable. My body seemed to really respond to it.

I just had to chime in to offer a different take on Njemile Carol Jones -- I've been seeing her for six months and have had a very positive experience with her. She is always very welcoming and takes time to ask about my state of mind and thoughtfully answer all of my questions before beginning the acupuncture session. She explains everything she is doing, is very gentle with the needles and I usually doze off on the table -- very relaxing. She is very knowledgeable about traditional Chinese medicine, herbs, acupuncture, and fertility. She studied with Randine Lewis, author of The Infertility Cure, and she focuses exclusively on fertility issues.

I am sure there are many excellent acupuncturists in the DC area and you may find that you "click" with someone else. I am posting this because I felt that Njemile needed to be defended on this forum -- I really like her and would highly recommend her to anyone seeking an acupuncturist.

We have been trying to get pregnant for over a year without luck so I thought I would try Chinese medice before going for any fertility treatments. I am 38. For the past 5 months I have used Kelly Welch for acupuncture. I absolutely LOVE him. I must admit I was very apprehensive at first, but he made me feel completely at ease. My periods were very irregular to the point where I never knew when to expect them. He did not start me on herbs right away, but after about 4-5 weeks with him. After just a few cycles with him my periods were regular and my cycles longer so I had more time to build up a healthy uterine lining for implantation. I actually feel better as well. I used to have horrible PMS (cramping, back pain) and those symptoms are all gone....well the bloating is still here I started going once a week and now I go bi-weekly (per his scheduling) so I never felt he was encouraging more$ visits than were needed. Additionally, he is very knowledgable about fertility issues. I am working with GW (Dr. Molina Dayal) and will probably do IVF in the next few weeks. It was reassuring to know that my doctors also know him and will work him to supplement accupuncture with my IVF cycle. I moved her in July 2010 and it was hard to find both a Fertility doctor and acupunturist I was compfortable. I went through 2 OBGYNs. 2 Fertility Clinics and 2 Accupuncturiest. I have finaly found a Acupuncturist and Fertility clinic that I love.....still need to find an OB GYN. I would highly reccomend Kelly and Dr. Dayal to anyone. He is wonderful.....and so is Dr. Dayal.

I did get pregnant with acupuncture and herbs after just one session. Just a little bit about my background, I have PCOS and was told the day before my first acupuncture appt that I would never get pregnant without Clomid due to the fact that I don't ovulate. At that time, I hadn't had a period in over two months which was pretty normal with my PCOS. I ended up going to my acupuncturist and taking his tea (yuck!) and was pregnant the following day. My sonogram confirmed the date of my pregnancy as the day after my first appt. When I called my OB, she was floored that I was pregnant on my own. I will say that my understanding is that normally it takes a little longer than just one time.

I can't recommend my acupuncturist enough. His name is Dr. Arthur Fan in McLean. He is a real Chinese doctor and I think at last count, he has had almost 50 pregnancies since 2007. He's super nice and very knowledgeable.

And #5 for keri westhauser. Although still ttc, I am not doing acupuncture anymore because I really do not have faith in it, and the additional $, but if I were to resume acupuncture , I would go back to her. No question.

A fourth recommendation for Kerri. I saw three fertility acupuncturists in the DC area and she is by far the best - and it worked. After 12 months of TTC we got pregnant with Kerri quickly. I highly recommend her and think acupuncture is worth every penny.

A third. Kerri is the best. She really caters to all her infertility patients, seeing them on weekends right around transfers and retrievals. She also works extra to fit you in and will go into her office just for you.
