I was one of three. My siblings and I went to fcps, I got straight a's, one was completely average, and one sibling couldn't pass a class if she wanted to. College---I went Ivy, finished in 4 years, the avg one went to an below average state school, finished in 5 yearsl, and the below avg one went to an avg state school and took 7 years to graduate bc of below avg grades. As it turned out, we all became physicians and dentists, I'm an internist (which has the least renumeration and I work 6 days a week), the avg one is a pediatric cardiologist (better renumeration than me), and the below avg one is a pediatric dentist, who makes 4x what I make working 3 days a week. So she had more fun growing up and a better life now that she's grown up. So it is what it is. Who cares?? If they have a good foundation, they'll be fine in the end.

They do not hate Asians. They hate themselves and their children since they can no longer compete. Exasperation precedes acceptance and concession.

That was all before the Asians got here en masse. Everything is different now. Had 2 Asians in my entire graduating class. Now DC's AAP class is 70% Asian.

I think it is because these 2nd graders cheat to test into AAP the way they cheat to get into TJ.

The blatant racism against Asians on this site is disappointing.

They don't, they think it makes them well-educated. It's a contemporary fallacy that the point of education is high-paying employment. That's what professional schools are for.

I have two in ES who did not make AAP. We had just moved back to the region and I was not even sure what all this fuss over AAP was. The third in HS did not have opportunity for AAP as we were overseas and he was in international schools. He is struggling in his three honor classes with B's and C's, but cruising through his AP class. Will they all get into college, certainly. Willl it be Harvard or UVA, not likely. They are all polite, loving, compassionate, self-assured, well adjusted normal kids who will make something of themselves. What more can parents ask for.

I was in the AAP crowd growing up (it wasn't called that where I was from) and went to a well known university and grad school, but I am living a fairly average life and lifestyle. My kids get great grades in public school, but test average/non AAP and I could give a woot. We focus on social skills and manners and humor and don't get very competitive with the school stuff. I have no doubt they will be "successful", and happy like I am, despite being average academically.

Grade inflation accounts for a lot of the rise in GPA needed for college admissions. Average GPA's tend to be to be higher today than 20 or thirty years ago. There is research on this that is very interesting.

Is the performance and achievement gap widening between Asians and Whites growing and expanding?

Population of Asians is less than 10 percent and proportion of Whites is certainly greater than 40 percent (very conservative estimate)?
