How do you people use so much leave? Are your kids sick a lot, or do your spouses not take any kid related leave? DH works for the feds, and can only carry over 240 annual hours. He quits work around December 10 each year just so he doesn't lose any leave. We only take one week of vacation per year, plus some days around Christmas.
Well, there's your answer. I use all of my leave because I like to travel. I usually take a week for spring break (even if we stay local, I like doing things with my children during that week vs finding a camp for them), 1-2 weeks in the summer and 1-2 weeks around Christmas.
I also take a day here and there to extend holiday weekends and/or to spend a day off with my husband.
Leisure time is very important to me and I'm not one who would rather save leave than take some time off to just do nothing.
Are you really able to not work during all that time off? I've tried to take more time but things always come up, so I make a point to do virtually no work during that one week I take off.

I always burn up my use or lose and have over a year of sick leave in the bank (plus the 30 days of annual)....
I just threw up in my mouth a little
