Thank you for your response. The GBRS seems to be the key remaining piece. We're hoping for a score around 12. We completed the Parent Questionnaire and submitted today, but I'm not sure how much weight that carries. We'll see. Thanks again.

We're in similar boat. 129 NNAT and 97 VQN. I've already scheduled a WISC, and will hold it for the appeal, if needed. Don't think I will though, based on feedback we've received from teacher.

Yes, I was also wondering if the committee would see the rec from the Kumon teacher and wonder why the student is already having trouble keeping up in school.

We had a very recent Kumon honor roll certificate. My DS is in E level. But many of my friends suggested that
I better not submit kumon trophy picture, proficient certificate and honor roll ones.
So we didn't. I don't want to hurt his chances.

With those scores, why do you even bother considering AAP?
Do you think you see something special about your DC intellectually?

Doubtful, IMO. Unless GBRS is very strong.

Introverted DC with 112 NNAT, 72nd percentile VQN CogAT, and had WISC with 115. Not in pool for AAp. What are chances she gets in with parent referral? We have letters of recommendation from soccer coach and KUMON instructor.

I absolutely agree with this. The smart introverted kid can easily be lost in the crowd of 25+ students.

The GBRS does favor outgoing kids without a shy bone in their bodies. If your child is very shy, I would talk about that in the parent questionnaire, using examples of my child's behavior in particular situations.

9:37 here. I tend to agree. With such a strong WISC, I don't see a reason to hold it back, especially to offset the verbal scores. I know several kids who were appeal kids. Doesn't bother me if DC was one. But I would prefer not to have to do extra work in May if I don't have to... Thanks!
